Cranksgiving 2022

  • Charm City Meadworks 400 East Biddle Street Baltimore, MD, 21202 United States (map)

Registration is live! Click here to register.

Cranksgiving is a national event that combines bike riding and giving back. This scavenger hunt/food drive will send teams of riders across the city to collect food items to benefit Moveable Feast and the Franciscan Center. Basically, it's all about food for people in need and riding bikes with friends, new and old.

Each year, Cranksgiving continues to grow. Sign up by yourself or with a team and help us reach our goal of 250 riders this year!

What does the day look like?
1:00pm | Digital manifests emailed to all teams, and biking food scavenger hunt throughout Baltimore begins! Teams start at Charm City Meadworks this year.
3:00pm | Teams reach the end of the race at one of our two food partners, the Francsican Center and Moveable Feast to drop off their food donations.
3:30pm - 6:00pm | Awards Ceremony (5:00pm) and after party

How does registration work? Do I need a team?
You can register with a team, or by yourself as a free agent! Registration happens online only; there is no day-of registration. If you’d like to get a Cranksgiving T-shirt you’ll have to register early bird! For free agents (individual riders without a team), please register as soon as possible so we have time to match you up with teammates before the event!

Riding is way more fun with friends, so Cranksgiving must be ridden with teams of 3 or 4. Don't have a team? Register as a free agent and we’ll help you find folks to ride with.

How does the scavenger hunt work?
At the start, all teams will be emailed their manifests. Each member of the team should receive an email with the manifest attached as a document. On the manifest is a list of grocery stores, outdoor checkpoints, and food items to purchase, each worth a certain number of points. The team with the highest number of points, in the shortest amount of time wins!

The scavenger hunt ride will begin at 1pm. Teams start at Charm City Meadworks, and they will end at one of our food partners - Moveable Feast (400 N Milton Ave.) or the Franciscan Center (100 W 23rd St.).

Only teams who turn in their manifests, receipts and food within 2 hours of their start time will be considered for prizes. The time teams arrive at their end location is a tiebreaker. If you aren’t able to make it to drop off food within 2 hours, please still donate your food to us! We’ll be at both food locations until 4pm.

How much does it cost to participate?
By design, Cranksgiving is and will always be a free event — meaning Bikemore will never charge registration to participate. We do ask that each person on a team bring $10-15 to help purchase food items on the list. But how much you are able to spend is entirely up to you!

What should I bring?
- Working bike
- Bag to carry purchases (backpacks, panniers, baskets — whatever you have!)
- $10-15 for purchasing food items for donation
- Bike lock
- A spare inner tube, repair kit, etc. - just in case

Is it a race? I don't ride very fast. Will I still have fun?
Kinda. That's Ok! Absolutely! Cranksgiving is designed to be a social team event because what's more fun that riding through the city with some friends and giving back?!

What happens if it rains?
This is a rain or shine event. Show up and ride, even if the weather isn't perfect!

What kind of food will we be donating?
It depends on what our partner organizations ask for - they are often non-perishable foods, canned goods, or spices. You’ll also donate produce from Hungry Harvest. This year, we’ll have a plant-based foods only manifest too for folks who feel strongly about not purchasing animal products - please mark down your preference in the registration form.

What COVID-19 precautions is Bikemore taking?
We’ve designed the event to limit crowds and indoor spaces this year, mixing in more outdoor checkpoints and dropping off food in outdoor stations. Masks are encouraged in all indoor areas. We’ll have an after-party, but it will have outdoor space as well and no one is required to go.
