This year our state delegation joined with elected officials across Maryland to form a transit caucus in Annapolis. They're working on a legislative package that includes moving MTA's fleet toward electric buses, increasing pedestrian safety, and providing oversight to P3 projects--the governor's new and favorite tool to advance unaccountable and environmentally disastrous highway widening.

Most importantly, the transit caucus is supporting legislation to increase funding for MTA's capital needs by hundreds of millions over the next few years, after a 2019 report found that MTA needs an additional $2 billion in funding just to maintain a state of good repair.

Advocates and elected officials are calling attention to this legislation at a rally and caucus night on February 12th, and we're encouraging you to attend!

About the Event:

Healthy public transit systems are essential for our state’s economy and the environment. Join Legislative Action Day in Annapolis to call on your legislators to support public transit! The Day will consist of a transit funding rally at 4 PM and transit caucus night at 6 PM.

4 :00 PM-- Rally outside the House of Delegates at the Corner of St. John's & College Avenue to voice your support of funding transit through the "MTA Safety and Investment Act." Maryland’s transit system, MTA, is facing a large funding cliff. We need to properly fund MTA so Marylanders can safely and reliably travel to their essential destinations every day on MARC, buses, Batimore Metro Subway and Light Rail. Brings signs and banners that show your support for funding transit! RSVP on this eventbrite page to attend the rally!

6:00 PM--Attend transit caucus night in House Room 170: Sign up to attend and indicate if you'd like to speak at Transit Caucus night here. At transit caucus night you can talk directly to legislators in the transit caucus in an open forum about ANY public transit issues you care about! Speakers will have 2-3 minutes to share their concerns, ideas, or priorities with all participants and legislators. You can also set up a table at the event. Pizza will be provided! Please bring a photo ID to enter the building. The event will wrap up at 8 PM.
